Free Guide: Devising a Kick-a** About Page - The 5 P's of Your Story

Devising a Kick-a** About Page: The 5 P's of Your Story (with Bonus PDF Guide)

Starting from the very first word of your About page, your story must speak to your audience.

Today I want to talk to you about your website’s About page... because I have a feeling it needs refreshing. It can be so hard to talk about yourself and figure out what to share with the world, and after all the effort and struggle you put in, most of the time it ends up reading pretty bland and boring.

It's usually either really short, lacking all the important info, that the readers still have no idea who you are after reading it; or it’s super long with way too much fluff and no real down-to-earth story behind the business. Either way, you’re in the losing circle.

In order to help you absolutely ROCK your About page game, I've put together an easy-to-use guide to the 5 P's of Your Story, with plenty of questions to form your story, so that you can connect with your visitors on a deeper level. What does that mean for you? More customers! Because people love a relationship built on trust and transparency.

1. People You Serve

Ask yourself the following questions to paint a clear picture of the people you’re serving, and write with them in mind.

  • Who is impacted by your product or service?

  • What are the interests of your ideal customers?

  • How do you relate to the people reading?

2. Problems You Solve & Personality that Makes You Unique

The problems you solve and that *unique factor* you possess to make you stand out.

  • What problems do you solve for your audience?

  • How does your product or service make life easier for your customers?

  • What feelings does your product or service bring to your customer’s life? (i.e. joy, happiness, relief, excitement, motivation, comfort, etc.)

  • What is different or unique about your product or service?

3. Point in Time When You Deliver Results

Be very clear on the end goal for your audience and how long it will take to get there... it’s an easy way to establish trust.

  • How long will it take before your customers see the full results and reach the end goal your product or service promises? Give a brief overview of the timeline or experience.

  • Are you forming a long-term relationship upon purchase or is it a quick transaction before you part ways? What does this relationship involve?

The last two include: 4. Place You're Located and 5. Your Passion & Purpose.
